123 swimmers completed an estimated combined 241 kilometres at Bromley swimming pools in support of the national Swimathon last Sunday in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. The youngest swimmer was 7 years old and the oldest an estimated 87 years young.
At the Spa at Beckenham local friends Marley Braim, Abigail Edwards and Gabrielle Cheeseman (all 10 years) completed the suggested 60 lengths in under an hour. It was the furthest they had swum and together they are expected to raise over £100.
Also swimming as team “Two Fish and a Walrus” the Bordeaux family completed 5 kilometres (200 lengths) in a total of 2hours and 7 minutes raising an predicted £500 for the charity. Said Mark Bordeaux, “The boys are very keen to keep it up, and see if they can make the whole 5k their on own next year!”.
