The NEW ‘Skill Factor’ football programme is here starting from 21 April 2008 at most Bromley Mytime Centres. Delivered by the Skills Academy the programme is designed for boys and girls of all abilities aged 6-11years old.
Each course consists of 12-14 sessions of coaching, practice and matches. Children will learn the core techniques of footall including dribbling, skills moves, control, passing, shooting and heading as well as develop communication and socialisation by working as part of a team during match pracitices and games.
There are 2 different sets of challenges. The first course starting in April will be "Got moves" including dribbling, tricks and control. Throughout the course each player will complete a number of challenges and by the end of each course (12-14 weeks) each player completing all challenges will be awarded a certificate and a coloured wrist band based on their individual score achieved as detailed below:
Skills Academy starter = white band
Factor 1 = orange band
Factor 2 = blue band
Factor 3 = green band
Factor 4 = purple band
Factor 5 = black band
Maximum points = Skill Factor red band and an invitation to trial with a professional football club.
Mike Delaney, Director of the Skills Academy, said “The aim of the scheme is to provide excellent coaching in a number of core skills as well as provide each player with the opportunity to show what they can do. Over a a period of time the players will be able to show how much they have individually improved as they progress through the Skill Factor bands”. The second set of testing, "Power and Precision" will commence in September including passing, shooting, heading.
Customers can join a course at any point (subject to spaces being available) however to ensure completion of all the challenges and to receive a Skill Factor rating players must complete the whole course.
