Schools Service Frequently Asked Questions

What activities are on offer?

Please refer to the Bulletin newsletter for a full menu of sports and arts activities, from athletics to dance and swimming to drama. If you can’t find what you’re looking for then we will always try and direct you, contact our Sports Development or Arts Team for further information.

How do I book?

Our easy and highly efficient booking service enables schools to book sports coaches or arts workers in advance of the previous term or up to a whole academic year in advance. We are able to facilitate late bookings or bookings mid-term with flexibility on days. Please use our booking form .

Can I book coaches for PPA time cover?

Yes, our sports coaches and art workers already successfully cover Planning Preparation & Assessment (PPA) time in several schools. We provide high quality coaching delivery, with learning outcomes set by the teacher. Please note Government guidelines stipulate that a member of school staff must be present during these sessions.

How many weeks can sessions run for?

This is entirely up to the school. We would recommend a minimum of six weeks in order for the children to benefit from the coaching.

Who pays for the sessions?

Unless otherwise advised, an invoice for activities booked will be sent direct to the school on a monthly basis. It is then the schools choice whether to pass this cost on to parents and what to charge each child.

What is included within a session price?

All our staff are CRB checked and they are easily identifiable by their Bromley Mytime uniform and ID badge. Sessions are fully risk assessed and covered by our Public Liability insurance. Coaches will bring their own sports equipment and lesson plans to the sessions to ensure that participants progress. For current costs please refer to the Bulletin newsletter.

Our charitable status means that every penny of surplus is re-invested back into service improvements, either in better leisure centres, or activity programmes. We work in partnership with Bromley Council and over forty other partner organisations to provide opportunities for participation in sport, physical activity and arts.

Who are your sports coaches?

We employ part time community sports coaches in Hockey, Tennis and MyBoost, in addition we employ a large pool of casual coaches. Our sports coaches hold National Governing Body qualifications and/or a Sports Leaders UK award. As well as monitoring our sports coaches on an annual basis we also ensure they have attended emergency first aid, child protection and disability awareness training.

Who are your arts workers?

We employ our arts workers on a casual basis to deliver workshops and projects within the borough. Our team includes dancers, actors, musicians and visual artists, all at degree level and beyond. We continually review our database of workers to meet the changing artistic demands of schools in the Bromley area.

How many children can participate in a sports session?

Our recommended ratios are 1 coach to 16 participants, this ensures a quality session for all. During curriculum time, provided a teacher is present, the coach can deliver to up to 32 participants. If you have a high demand for an after-school session with more than 16 participants then you will need to request an additional coach.

How many children can participate in an Arts session?

Our ratio is 1 tutor to 8 children under 8 years old or 1 tutor to 16 children over 8 years old. The tutors can work with more children if a teacher or teaching assistant is present or we can provide an assistant.

How can children continue playing sport outside of school?

At sport specific sessions we provide a certificate of achievement which also details information on ‘where to play next’ including our partner sport clubs. You can also view an A to Z list of sports clubs in Bromley which provides a guide, however Bromley Mytime do not vet all of the clubs.

Our buzz and Connect magazines provide information on a huge variety of sport and physical activity opportunities during holidays and term time across the borough – browse through our website for regular updates.

Can you provide coaches for “one off” events?

We can deliver taster sessions and school assemblies (these are sometimes FREE, see Bulletin for our latest offers or promotions), or if you have a health week or school sports day we can also provide support and coaches to deliver specific sessions.

What Arts commissioned projects do you deliver?

We work in partnership with The Bromley Children’s Fund to deliver the Moving On to Secondary School Project. We provide administrative support and source artists, sports coaches and staff to run Summer Holiday Activity weeks.

How can I feedback my comments and suggestions?

We welcome feedback from our customers and we regularly provide teachers, parents and participants the opportunity to tell us what they think of our services by completion of a Talktime form. If you have any additional comments on our schools service please call 020 8323 1764 or email nicole.davis@bromleymytime.org.uk.
