Cricket is an increasingly popular sport for boys and girls of all abilities. Bromley Mytime works in partnership with the Kent Cricket Board, Bromley District Cricket Development Officer (DCDO), schools and local clubs. This partnership offers a huge variety of school, club and leisure centre based cricketing opportunities across a wide age range. Talented children will also be identified to play representative cricket. All cricket coaching sessions are delivered by England Cricket Board (ECB) qualified coaches, under the Bromley District Cricket Coaching Scheme.
Bromley District Cricket Coaching:
1.Schools Coaching -
Cricket is delivered in both primary and secondary schools through the Bromley District Cricket Coaching scheme (BDCC) run by the District Cricket Development Officer. A range of coaching packages are delivered specifically for schools including curriculum time coaching, breakfast/after school and lunch time clubs. Primary school sessions are delivered in the form of Kwik Cricket, with all basic cricketing skills being taught including, batting, bowling, and fielding. Secondary school sessions are delivered in the form of Inter-Cricket or Hard Ball Cricket, with basic through to advanced skills, being taught.
2. Primary Schools Festivals -
BDCC organises Primary school festival(s) for mixed boys’ and girls’ teams, with the overall winner representing the Borough in the Kent Primary Schools Festival.
3. Facilities Coaching
Bromley Mytime and Bromley District Cricket Coaching work in partnership to deliver a full indoor winter cricket coaching programme for 4 – 18 year olds in Leisure Facilities across the borough. There is also a comprehensive facilities based summer programme running at selected sites across Bromley Mytime for 4 – 9 year olds.
4. Holiday Courses
Bromley Mytime and Bromley District Cricket Coaching work in partnership to deliver courses in the Bromley Mytime Leisure Centres during the school holidays.
5. Representative Opportunities
There are Bromley District representative teams at U10, U12, U14 with squads being chosen from District Trials, held each November. Selected players receive squad coaching prior to matches. District Representation then leads on to opportunities to represent the Metropolitan Area and ultimately Kent.
6. District Development Group
Formed as a sub group to the current KCB Bromley Clubs Committee to include representatives from local clubs (men, ladies and junior sections), schools, coaches, officials, District Development Officer (Chair) and Bromley Mytime SDO. The group will create a District Development Plan for cricket to compliment, and be integrated into, the County Cricket Development Plan, to ensure a unified approach at local, county and National levels.
