Sporting Profile of Michael Gunning - Swimming
Michael swims in the National squad and trains for 14 hours per week at The Spa at Beckenham and at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Michael is currently ranked the 4th fastest 200m butterfly and 4th for 1500m Freestyle at the National Youth Championships held in July. Michael was selected to represent England in the UK School Games held in Wales; he performed a year “out of age” and came 6th!!
Michael is already on the way to fulfilling his potential and said “My sporting aspirations in the next year are that I would like to get selected for the European Juniors and win a medal at the National Championships”. “My greatest sporting memory was competing in the World Trials in March. I was out of age and had no idea what to expect. There were camera’s everywhere, even in the swimming pool and it was an amazing experience to be swimming with the Olympians!”
