Charlton Challenge ( 5-15 year olds)

The Charlton Challenge is the club award scheme for 5-15 year old boys and girls, delivered by Charlton Athletic Community Trust qualified coaches.

Each course lasts for a 12 or 13 week period.

The Charlton Challenge is a structured and progressive scheme which develops children's core football skills, and is designed to create maximum enjoyment and to help young footballers realise their full potential.

The Charlton Challenge divides into three age groups: 5-7 years 8-11 years and 12 years.
Each age groups consists of 6 levels including: a 'Premier Challenge' (more details below).:

Courses concentrate on the game's four essential skills - dribbling, passing, control and shooting, as well as improving co-ordination, balance, fitness and social skills.

Each of the four skills are coached for two weeks then tested at the end of the course, followed by a presentation week on each level of the challenge.

Children then either progress to the next level or continue to develop their skills.

Once all five levels have been achieved children will progress to the Premier Challenge.

The Premier Challenge

Children receive a high level of coaching based on technique on the ball, movement off and on the ball, individual role and team play, and development of skills into match situations.
Unlike the Charlton Challenge, the Premier is not test-based; coaching is not geared towards passing a test, instead focusing on the development of a player, allowing them to develop at their own pace.

The Charlton Challenge will be delivered in Bromley Mytime facilities from September 2010:
