In July, the second Bromley Arts Festival (BAF!) took place following its successful launch in 2007. Last year over 600 people took part in the 3 day event which involved over 40 Bromley based organisations. An estimated 10,500 people were attracted to the town centre for the event which is in addition to the regular footfall for the month of July in the central pedestrianised area (average weekend figures 121,500). This was despite the extreme weather conditions! Feedback from performers was very positive and the festival crew together with partner organisations HJA and The Churchill Theatre worked extremely hard to make the event a success
A comment from one of last year’s performers:
“Your selection of artists and organisations was excellent – the work on show rivaled a lot of other shows of a more high profile nature…I really enjoyed taking part and it has really helped me a lot” Rafael (exhibitor)
This year’s festival has taken an exciting departure from last years programme. BAF! 2008 was coordinated by the hugely experienced arts consultancy Parrabbola in close partnership with Arts Development and the support of the Arts Panel. The festival took place over the weekend of 11-13 July and included a range of unusual and exciting performances. The overall theme was Word on the Street which coincided with celebrations for the National Year of Reading.
