Bromley athletes showcased an excellent performance in The adidas London Mini Marathon last month. The team successfully secured third place obtaining a total of 2130 points for the borough. The squad included 46 athletes from a selection of Bromley schools and Blackheath & Bromley Harriers Athletics Club and competed against 32 other London boroughs running the last 3 miles of The London Marathon. All participants earned themselves a valuable place on the team by taking part in a trials competition prior to the event arranged by the Sports Development Unit and Blackheath & Bromley AC.
The girl’s team won the 11 – 12 years age group with one participant successfully securing an individual first place and an interview on the BBC! Georgina Kennedy (pictured) won the race in a record time of 18.58 and is still in the youngest age category. The other two girl teams finished in second and fifth position matching last year’s performance.
The three boy teams continued to bring in some excellent times and personal best performances all contributing to Bromley’s final position.
